World of Warcraft’s new expansion Mists of Pandaira could be a free expansion. With the beta possibly on the way with a known million people keyed for it, from “Blizzard’s annual pass”. How is Blizzard going to keep those players keep playing after the beta? If this beta works like the other betas that Blizzard has had before. The MoP beta could be 4 to 6 months long, and within that time players have more than burn threw its contents.
So how is Blizzard going to get those millions of players to buy the expansion after they burned through all the content in the beta? Well I think the best thing they can do is to make the expansion free. This could make the player play the expansion and sub for WoW, which could be better for them in the long run. Also with the new scroll of resurrection that can upgrade your account to cata and make one of your toons level 80 instantly, we could see a lot of old players come back.
I am worried about how they’re going to lunch the beta. With a million players wanted to play the beta, how is Blizzard going to lunch the beta without the severs crashing (If this beta works like the other betas that Blizzard has had before)?
